📋 Overview
Scribr (com.flexkit.scribr) is a voice recording, transcription, and summarization app. Transcription and summarization run entirely on your device using offline AI models. Your audio is never sent to any server for processing.
This policy explains what data is collected, why, and how you can control it.
🎤 Audio Recordings Stays on device
All audio recordings are stored locally on your device only. Audio files are never uploaded to any server, cloud storage, or third-party service, not even when cloud sync is enabled.
- Recordings are saved in the app's private documents directory.
- Deleting a recording from the app permanently removes the file from your device.
- Uninstalling the app removes all stored recordings.
📝 Transcriptions & Summaries
Transcription is performed locally by the Whisper model running on your device. Summarization is performed locally by the Qwen3 model running on your device. No audio or text is sent to any external AI service.
Transcription text and summaries are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
If you sign in with Google and cloud sync is active, transcription text, summaries, titles, and metadata are synced to Firebase Firestore (see Cloud Sync below). Audio files are never synced.
☁️ Cloud Sync (Optional) Requires sign-in
Cloud sync is optional and requires signing in with a Google account. When signed in, the following metadata is stored in Google Firebase Firestore under your user account:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Recording title | Display across devices |
| Transcription text | Access transcripts on other devices |
| Summary text | Access summaries on other devices |
| Duration, date created | Sorting and display |
| Detected language | Language label display |
| Folder / favorite flag | Organization across devices |
You can sign out at any time from Settings → Account & Sync. Signing out stops all future syncing. To delete your cloud data, delete individual recordings from the app while signed in, or contact us (see below).
🔐 Google Sign-In & Firebase Authentication
Sign-in is handled by Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication. When you sign in, Google provides your name, email address, and profile photo to the app for display purposes. We do not store your password.
Google's privacy policy applies to the sign-in process: policies.google.com/privacy
📊 Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and improve it. The data collected includes:
- Feature usage events (e.g. "transcription started", "summary generated")
- App version and device type (anonymized)
- Crash and error rates
Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous. It cannot be used to identify you personally. No recording content, transcriptions, or summaries are included in analytics events.
Firebase Analytics is governed by Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
🛠️ Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports and non-fatal error reports. These reports help us identify and fix bugs. Reports contain:
- Stack traces and error messages
- Device model and OS version
- App version
Crash reports do not contain your recordings, transcriptions, or any personal content.
📣 Advertising
The free version of Scribr displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and other signals to show relevant ads.
Purchasing Remove Ads from the app permanently disables all advertising. No ad data is collected for premium users.
Google's advertising privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
💳 In-App Purchases
The only purchase available is Remove Ads, processed entirely by the Google Play Store. Scribr does not collect or store any payment information. Purchase receipts are verified locally through the Play Store.
